Kyauktan
Kyaik Hmaw Wun Pagoda (or also known as Kyauktan Yele Pagoda)
info Yele Pagoda at Kyauktan means the Pagoda in mid-stream on a laterite reef. The Pagoda is also known as Kyaik Mhaw Won Pagoda (ကျိုက်မှော်ဝန်းရေလယ်စေတီတော်). The pagoda was built by King Zeyasana, the seventh king of the Pada Dynasty in the third century BC. The height of the original pagoda was only 11ft.
The pagoda is built on a small island in Hmaw Wun Creek with Buddha's relics residing in it. The pagoda has two special myths surrounding it, the water level will never rise to a level high enough to engulf the pagoda and that no matter how crowded it may be inside the pagoda, there is always room for visitors who come onto the island. At the pagoda, the visitors can set free the captive fish and feed the fish in the river.
The only way to get into the pagoda is by the boat. Foreigners are required to sit at a "larger boat" which differs from the smaller ones that the locals take due to "security purposes".
