During the monsoon season. July to October. it can rain often and heavily in Sittwe. In the centre of the town. a distinct monument can be seen. It is the Atulamarazein Pyilonechanthar Payagyi.
Inside the Pagoda is a large Buddha image with "royal attire" having crown and jewelled chest piece. The Buddhist Museum is also an interesting place to visit in Sittwe.
