Leimyathna Pagoda
info Leimyathna Pagoda (လေးမျက်နှာဘုရား) means "pagoda with four sides" in Myanmar.
This imposing temple was built by the Prime Minister of Htilomino, Anantasura and his wife. There are also four entries and four cardinal points. But the principal entry is prolonged by a hall in the East. It is perched on a platform.
It is a beautiful architectural example of a temple on a floor of the late style. Anantasura, who had carried out this work of merit in remembrance a famous poem of the literature wrote by its predecessor Ananthathurya who had been executed by the king.

Leimyathna is one of the rare sanctuaries which is completely preserved. It still has a hall of ordination, a hall of prayers, the residence of the head of the monks, the dormitories, the rooms of rest of the monks.
The temple was unfortunately bleached with lime by the villagers and part of paintings was seriously damaged. Paintings represented, the jatakas, the 28 former lives of the Gautama Buddha.
