Nandawshay Sayar Tin

Nandashay Sayar Tin was the most famous Musician and Composer of Myanmar Music history. He was the composer of Myanmar National Anthem. Sayar Tin was born in 1892 at Mandalay.
He was the son of U Yan Aung and Daw Thein. His father. U Yan Aung was a man in the service of the Last King of the Konbaung Monarch. King Thibaw. He was the only son with an elder sister and a younger one. Sayar Tin started to work as a school teacher after passing the tenth standard. in a private school.
He was a good player of concertina and was also good at singing songs. His interest for music made him a critic among the teachers. so he quit the life of a teacher after three years of service. After quitting his job. he started to concentrate studying on traditional Myanmar Music and songs. He established a private-owned school of arts. He and his students entertained at charity and weddings for free. His career in music grew. and soon many recording business started to contact him for songs. He then made frequent visits to Yangon where his songs were sold. recoreded and used in films.
Sayar Tin composed the National Anthem known as Kaba Ma Kyei. The first version of the song was sang by himself. On the Independence Day of 1950. he was awarded the honour with a title of Wunna Kyaw Htin for writing the song. He was known to have written many songs in his life. He died on August 8. 1950. He died of Tuberculosis.
