It is widely known that a number of temples in Bagan were cursed by the owner or the builder of the temples. Archaeological records found 41 temples in Bagan, Myanmar were cursed. Below are a few of them.

These most likely is the reason why Mongol invaders did not touch the temples, when they raided Bagan many centuries ago.

1) The Curse at the Manuha Temple, Bagan

The Curse of Manuhar

"Who destroyed my good deeds?"
It is made up of eight levels of hell.
The world will burn, but it will not burn
The eight hells in the universe
It is a stump of hell. "

ကမ္ဘာလောင်သော်လည်း မလောင်ရာသော
စကြ၀ဠာ၌ရှိသော ငရဲကြီးရှစ်ထပ်သို့ ကျက်စေ၏
ငရဲသစ်ငုတ် ဖြစ်စေ၏။ "

ရေလည်းမရ အစာလည်းမရ
လျှာငါးလံထွက်လျက် ခံစေသတည်း "

3) The Curse at Nataungtat Pagoda, Bagan

'He who destroys my goodness
When seven generations are destroyed
Hell in the abyss
It does not fall off
Let it be a new hell
He is the one who praises my goodness
If they are like me, let them be like me.

'ငါ့ကောင်းမှုကို ဖျက်သောသူကား
အမျိုးခုနစ်ဆက် ညက်ညက်ပြုန်းတီးပျက်စီးစေသော်
အဝီစိအထဲ ငရဲကွ၍
ချွတ်လည်း မကျွတ်တတ်သည့်
ငရဲသစ်ငုတ်လျင် ဖြစ်စေသတည်း
ငါ့ကောင်းမှုကို ချီးပင့်သောသူကား
ငါနှင့်ထပ်တူလျှင် ရကြပါစေသတည်း''

If it is dry, let it be big. "

တုရင်တောင်ဂူဘုရားကျိန်စာ

ဤ ငါပြုသောကောင်းမှုကို ဖျက်သောသူကား
လေးသောင်းမြေပုံလုံးမျှ ကြုံမကလျှင်
အဝီစိမည်သော ငရဲကြီးတွင် ကျက်စေသတည်း
အကမ္ဘာသောဘုရားလည်း မဖူးရစေသတည်း
စားချင်လျက် မစားရတတ်
သောက်ချင်လျှက် မသောက်ရတတ်
ဘုရားတကာ မချွတ်နိုင်သော
ခြောက်ပြိတ္တာကြီးလျှင် ဖြစ်စေသတည်း "
