info The floating Karaweik (ကရဝိက်) Restaurant on Kandawgyi Lake (ကန်တော်ကြီးကန်) is one of the landmarks of Yangon.
This modern architecture of a mythical creature Karaweik Hall's construction begun in 1972 and ended in 1974. The barge was designed by U Ngwe Hlaing, a Burmese architect who based it on the Pyigyimon royal barge. This whole building was coated in gold about 20 years ago. Karaweik Hall will serve lunch and dinner in a buffet style with Burmese, Chinese, Eastern and Western cuisine at moderate prices.

It is well recommended to take some time to appreciate the beauty of this royal barge and the stunning view of the Shwedagon Pagoda nearby. Traditional dance performances are normally held here in the evenings.
