During the monsoon season, July to October, it can rain often and heavily in Sittwe. In the centre of the town, a distinct monument can be seen. It is the Atulamarazein Pyilonechanthar Payagyi.

Inside the Pagoda is a large Buddha image with "royal attire" having crown and jewelled chest piece. The Buddhist Museum is also an interesting place to visit in Sittwe.
