As with Monywa. the city is a trade center for agricultural produce. especially beans. rice and sesame from the surrounding plains between the Mu and the Ayeyarwady River.

Major Attractions

 - The major tourist attraction in Shwebo are its numerous Buddhist temples. and the ruins of Alaungpaya's palace. The city is still surrounded by its ancient moat.Shwebo is truly critical as the town from which King Alaungpaya propelled his crusade to reunify Myanmar in the eighteenth century. and remainders of this regal time can be seen around town as the old canal and a few vital pagodas. More antiquated history can be found outside of town at the site of Hanlin. one of three Pyu urban areas going back 1600 years that in 2014 moved toward becoming Myanmar's fi rst attractions to be added to the UNESCO World Heritage list. Around 20 miles east of Shwebo untruths Kyaukmyaung along the Ayeywarwady River. well known for its earthenware ovens what's more. a great place to get a pontoon for focuses northward or southward.
