Kyauktawgyi implies the Great Marble Buddha Image in Myanmar which is one of the must-go places once your vacation is spent in Mandalay.

It is situated close to the southern entrance to Mandalay Hill. King Mindon assembled Kyauktawgyi Pagoda in 1853 replicating the model of the Ananda Temple at Bagan. There is an enormous Buddha Image curved out of one single stone block of marble acquired from the Sagyin quarry hill. 12 miles north of Mandalay. This stone block was said to be transported from the Ayeyarwaddy River by 10 thousand men for around 2 to the site where it is today. The central attention of this statue is the hand and the eyes which are exceedingly downcast if not actually closed.

An energizing celebration concentrated on a gigantic Buddha picture cut from a solitary square of marble. It concurs with a yearly rivalry among groups of stick ball (jaw solitary) players.
