Cooking Class
If you are a foodie, you might want to take a short cooking class while in Myanmar. There are some neat and clean cooking classes in Yangon, Bagan and Inle which will teach you how to cook some traditional Burmese food.
Yangon
In Yangon, there is a not-for-profit social business called Three Good Spoons which provides a variety of cooking lessons of different skill levels for housekeepers and tourists. They also provide free hygiene, nutrition and cooking classes to disadvantaged and unemployed women in Myanmar.
"Three Good Spoons' long-term goal is to deliver accredited training for domestic workers. Myanmar women employed as domestic staff (maids) at home and overseas are vulnerable to exploitation and abuse. Accredited training can promote domestic employment as a viable means of improved livelihood within Myanmar, where women can maintain contact with their family and community and develop transferrable skills." - Three Good Spoons

Bagan
In Bagan, there is a well known cooking class called Pennywort Cooking Class which is being held at the family home of May, the lady who will teach you how to cook delicious Burmese dishes. She will let you visit the market to get ingredients first and then they will be prepared at her home before cooking the dishes using charcoal fires. This is also a great Burmese culture experience as you will get to see how Burmese people usually prepare and cook their food.
One-fifth of May's earnings go towards the Kuthodaw library in order to promote reading to the youth in the community.

Inle
In Inle, you can learn how to cook tasty Inthar dishes in some places. Among them, there are two that we would recommend.
Firstly, there is a cooking class at Inle Heritage which is still using the traditional recipes which were passed down for generations to cook distinctive Shan dishes. They let you gather the ingredients you need at a local market before heading to your classrooms or a real kitchen to prepare the traditional Inthar dishes that are exclusive to Inle or Shan state.
"Inle Heritage is a not-for-profit organization that looks after the cultural and natural heritage of the Inle Region, and helps it grow as a great place to live, work and visit." - Inle Heritage

Then, there is a cooking class that is being held by a local Inthar man called Mr. Min and his wife. You will start the day by getting the ingredients at a local market and you will proceed to cook at the cooking classroom near Mr. Min's family home. At the end of the lessons, you will also get a recipe book of all the dishes to take home.
